Shannon Hecker, MA

My work is about helping individuals, groups and organizations thrive.  I have a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Youth Care and a Masters degree in Conflict Analysis and Management. I am currently the Manager of Wellness Programs and Innovation at Canadian Mental Health Association and I love to work alongside a vibrant and creative team to serve the communities in the Shuswap.

Approach

I want you to feel better as quickly as possible and I feel this is best accomplished using a blend of approaches.  I work with narrative ideas which places an emphasis on the way we tell our stories. These narratives can have an impact on how we live our lives.  I am also well versed in strategic change management and mindfulness based approaches to feeling better and tackling life’s difficulties.  Approach is important, but what is essential is a working relationship built on safety and trust.

I am direct, compassionate and a superb listener.  I can help you get where you want to go.

I work with people who may be struggling with the following:

  • mental health

  • grief and loss

  • thoughts of suicide

  • Relationship struggles

  • gender and sexual identity

  • loneliness

Groups and Organizations:

I love community building and collaborating to create ways for systems to thrive. I do not shy away from the difficult conversations and I work with organizations and businesses that are looking for ways to thrive and innovate through conflict and change.
